How verification works
A surgeon on the directory is marked verified only when their board certification is confirmed against a primary source: state physician-profile registries that publish certification records. The board name, the source, and the check date are stored and shown. A surgeon we could not check is labeled plainly rather than deleted or guessed at, and the label says exactly what we did and did not confirm.
Verification is free for every surgeon and is never for sale. Nothing a practice can buy, including Pro, changes a credential status. That rule is enforced in the directory's code and tests, not just in its copy.
